In The Studio: Several new demonstrations

The Artist In The Studio

Here are 3 demonstrations from my classes this last week.  Sometimes I put them up and I wonder is a quick study worth putting up when there are so many ultra wonderful paintings being posted, that seem to have taken a little more time.  Well I think they are since my core message is to know what you want to express and then say it.  Don’t look for a reason to paint after you have started, it usually makes for a confused piece.

Early morning light12×16 watercolor on 300lb arches block.  My goal in this painting was to focus the composition with the light on the top right, I kept the left side really dark and cool for contrast.Leeds manor road11×14 oil  this painting is about the hazy afternoon light and its effect on the distance. winter cowsThis watercolor is fairly abstract in design since it really in painted in bands of information. My goal was to make the cows the center of interest yet have a fairly active upper part of the painting to compete and give the painting a sense of place

  1. I like how you meditate and make up your painting scenes and how you also teach us to do it.
