In the studio: The last of my commission paintings

The Artist In The Studio

Here is the last in the series of commissions I painted and hopefully these three will satisfy the buyer.  They were lots of fun to paint and I learned a lot from working in a larger format.  Freer brushwork, easier edges and just more room to maneuver makes for a more interesting painting.  But then there is the pesky little problem of what do you do with this size piece until the museum calls, yeah I wish.DSC_000724×30 oil on canvas  “The other side of 601”

  1. This painting is really great. I like it a lot. Thank you for showing it. I’m looking forward to read some of your watercolor lessons. Have you posted anyone?, perhaps in your blog?. Respectfully Mercedes

  2. this series is wonderful- your lights glow and the variety of your edges lend them a vibrancy- you are transferring to the studio work what you are doing plein air which isn’t always easy-are you working from photos-sketches-or a combination? keep up the great work!

  3. This is one of the nicest landscapes you’ve done in oil, Steve. Love the cows, the buildings, and the background! If this painting needs a temporary home, (while you wait for that museum call). I’m sure I could find a spare wall for it 🙂
