The Artist In The Studio

Here’s another new oil painting I do promise to get out a watercolor demonstration in the next few days, but for the moment you will have to just put up with my modest attempts at getting it done in oil.  In this painting I am trying to capture the layers of fog rolling up over top of the distant hills.  I am not sure I got it perfect but I did get it to express the subject.  DSC_0007“Incoming Fog, Rosscarberry”  11×14 oil on archival canvas panel.

This second painting that I also did today is my attempt at a sunset across the fields in the Plains, Virginia.  The actual painting is much less vibrant but I was tired and this is the best photograph I could shoot.  The dark shapes in the field are cows but they are not quite strong enough I will get them right when I get back in the studio.  The hills behind the trees are nowhere close to that blue they are a cool grey.  Cameras! where is Christine when I need her? 1. I think you have got both the Fog and Hot moods in your oils. I like them and I saw them several times. I like travel with you in your Oils stride. Thank for share.

  2. I think you’re doing really well with the oil Steve.
You’ve improved out of sight over the time.
These are great. I particularly love the one with the mookers. Great stuff. Ro x
