In The Studio: Figures On The Street, Hondaribbia, Spain

I will begin to work on painting figures some simple some more complicated beginning later this week, but I wanted to post a painting I demonstrated on my recent workshop in San Sebastian, Spain.  It was beautiful walled city, Hondaribbia, and I liked the way the figures focused the painting.  Try to imagine the painting without these little symbols of activity and you will see how incomplete the image would be.DSC_0005Here is the scene I was painting notice the difference in light, and content.DSC_0001

Love this painting. The figures are just suggested and yet complete the painting. looking forward to the 50 days of figures!ReplyCancel

I’ve been quite impressed with your interpretation of that urban area. I like it a lot. I would have been much more literal wether in the representation of the structures as in in the color and mood. I’d like to learn how to “interpret” and leave “copy”. Thank you for sharing it with me. You have opened windows where I look. A greetingReplyCancel

This is AMAZING. I KNOW this place in Hondarribia. Our son lives in Irun, been to Hondarribia several times. San Sebastian is such a beautiful city and beach. I LOVE it there. We were just there this summer. Love the painting too.
