In The Studio: Number 88 of 90 Paintings in 90 Days “Springtime Glare”

This painting was painted outdoors on the top of a mountain looking out across the shenandoah valley.  The sun was really strong and the trees and hills and valley all merged into one flat nothing.  I painted color, and texture and overlapping shapes and gave it my best shot.

those trees…only those who have ever sat down and tried to create a tree using watercolor paint truly understand how remarkable those strokes are.

Are you using cadmium orange? I use it sparingly, but enjoy it’s brilliance.

    Great brushstrokes as usual!ReplyCancel

actually Mike I am using halloween from American Journey, I would prefer a more transparent orange always to the opacity of cadmium orange. I also like transparent orange from Daniel Smith.ReplyCancel
